Hotels in the city near Heraklion port
Blossom Collection Suites
Number 1 are the Blossom Collection Suites, near the heart of the city center and with a view of the port. One of them even has a terrace with jacuzzi. These are brand new and I could find nothing that was missing. Beautiful details, comfortable beds. And not noisy! You can walk to the port within 5 minutes.
Cocomelo Apartments
Traveling on a budget and just need a place to sleep for a couple of hours before taking a ferry? Try Cocomelo apartments. Or Cocomelo apartments 2. You can find prices under € 50 per night here and it is just a 5-minute drive from the ferry. It is simple but has everything you need. The only annoying thing when staying in this part of the city is that you can hear planes landing at the airport very well. But that is purely because the airport is so close to the city (on the right side).
Hotels on Karteros / Amnisos beach and near Heraklion Airport
The Karteros/Amnisos beach area is a 15-minute drive from the port and just 5 minutes from the airport. The beach itself is wonderful, way better than I expected from a beach so close to the city. Beautiful waters and golden sand.
Sentido Unique Blue
One of the best luxury options near Heraklion airport is the all-inclusive adults only resort Sentido Unique Blue. Located on Amnisos beach, has delicious food. Best all-in food and buffet options I have ever had. The resort is not too massive and the staff is a 10/10. I’d recommend anyone who wants to relax at the end of their trip to stay here for a few days. On the beach, you can see the planes landing while inside the rooms, you fortunately do not hear them.
@tzatchickie Halfway my 81-day Greece trip I picked up my mum from Heraklion airport ✈️ and I said: “I am tired 😴, I want to do absolutely nothing today”. So she agreed to spontaneously book (no spon, €240 in May) a luxury hotel close to the airport for a night before our departure for Milos - and - something we NEVER do normally cause we ALWAYS ate out local for the past 30 years - all inclusive 😂. But it seemed like a great idea not to have to set a foot out of this beach 🏝️ front hotel for once . When we arrived to our surprise we got a free upgrade 🤩 to a swim up room. We spent the rest of the day on the beach (great beach!) and our terrace, swimming and relaxing. As I never go all inclusive this was an interesting experience for me. You could just tap as many soft drinks as you want, also take as many balls of ice cream 🍦 as you wanted, and a whole lot of other stuff such as cocktails 🍸. The food was actually good 👍🏻. I guess it would be boring staying on the premises of one hotel all week, but to rest a bit is perfect. . Dear everyone, Crete is a country of its own, it is extremely large (6 hours drive 🚗 East to West) and traveling this island can be exhausting. So if you are doing a road trip it is an excellent idea to book a nice beachfront hotel for the last 1-3 days to rest! 🙏🏻 Just as you would probably do when travelling Asia or South America. Pnoe Breathing Life
Pnoe Breahting life is another luxury adults-only option on the same beach. It is a brand new sister hotel of the Sentido Unique Blue and it is all about the food and aesthetics. There are gorgeous wellness facilities and the rooms are even more private and luxurious in set up than at Unique Blue, cause all of them feature at least a private pool.
Anemos Suites
A budget-friendly AND family-friendly choice on the same beach as the previous 2 luxury hotels mentioned, Anemos offers clean and comfortable rooms and a garden with a HUGE playground for children.
Hotels on Ammoudara beach near Heraklion
Ammoudara beach lies on the other side of Heraklion as the port and airport do, but it is still only 15 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from the port. Here are 2 hotels you might want to consider on Ammoudara beach.
Alkyonides rooms
Situated close to the beach, Alkyonides rooms offers renovated. spacious rooms with a beautiful view of the sea and the dunes. It’s more than a hotel, with a kitchenette included. Therefore with € 80 a night it is great value for money.
Anna Studio
Anna Studio is an AMAZING budget option and open all-year round with prices as low as € 35 per night! The rooms/apartments can sleep up to 5 persons and within a couple of minutes you’ll be right on the beach!
